2020  BIG SEA DAY Surf Contest

 

HOLD HARMLESS RELEASE

 

(THIS RELEASE BARS YOUR RIGHTS TO RECOVER DAMAGES IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT INJURING YOU.)

In applying to the Manasquan High School Booster Club aka( MHS Surf Team Parents)  surfing tournament, I promise to inspect the contest sites, and assure myself that the areas are safe for surfing, and further agree that I will not surf in any contest, unless I am satisfied that the area and conditions are safe for surfing purposes. As a participant or Parent /Legal Guardian of competitor, I agree it is my choice to enter the contest area (Ocean & Beach) based on my own level of skill and experience given the conditions of the day. In exchange for the Manasquan High School Booster Club aka( MHS Surf Team Parents) accepting my entry and entry fees, I voluntarily agree to assume all risks related to the sport of surfing. I fully understand and comprehend the dangers of surfing created by the surfboard’s sharp edges and fins, along with the natural buoyancy of a surfboard when acted upon by the powerful forces of the ocean and ocean waves. With full knowledge, comprehension and understanding of these dangers, I voluntarily accept and assume all risks involved in the sport of competitive surfing including, but not limited to, communicable diseases, COVID19 and / or any other potentially known or unknown hazards or risks.   I will further read and comply with all the Manasquan High School Booster Club aka( MHS Surf Team Parents) rules and regulations, noting existing weather conditions, and do agree that I voluntarily assume all risks arising from conditions related to the use of contest sites by myself and others. In consideration of your acceptance of my entry, I intend to be legally bound, hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, hold harmless and release and forever discharge the Manasquan High School Booster Club aka( MHS Surf Team Parents), The Borough of Manasquan, the State of   New Jersey, and all Manasquan High School Booster Club aka( MHS Surf Team Parents)Corporate Sponsors and local sponsors, their members, agents and any directors or officials connected with this competition, from all liabilities for injuries or damages whatsoever, arising from my presence or participation in the 2020 season events, and do hereby grant the sponsors such release as described herein. I acknowledge that I have read and understand all of the above.

 

Contestants and spectators alike need to adhere to these next questions:

 

·       Have not been and are not living with someone diagnosed with or presumed to have COVID-19 within the past thirty 30 days prior to the date of contest

·       Are not currently ill or experiencing flu-like symptoms and are not living with someone currently ill or experiencing flu-like symptoms.

·       Have not been and are not living with someone self-quarantined or self-monitoring for COVID-19 within the past 14 days prior to the date of contest.

·       Have not recovered from a COVID-19 illness within the last 72 hours prior to the date of contest and are not living with someone who has recovered from a COVID-19 illness within the last 72 hours prior to the date of the contest (Recovery is defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms)

·       Have not traveled internationally or been on a cruise ship within the past 14 days prior to the date of contest and are not living with someone who has traveled internationally or been on a cruise ship within the past 14 days prior to the date of contest.

·       Have not, within the past 14 days come to NJ from any of the following
States:  Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa,Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, South Carolina,
Tennessee, Texas and Utah (and any other States that may be subsequently
added to this list by the Governor of the State of NJ).

 

Social Distancing, Hygiene, and Face Coverings 

All competitors, spectators, and staff should practice good hygiene and social distancing consistent with CDC guidance, always staying six (6) feet away from each other. 

Contest jerseys will be washed in solution after each heat.

 

 

 

FOR CONTESTANT’S UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE:

 

I HEREBY CERTIFY that I am the parent or legal guardian of the surfer named above, and do hereby give my permission without reservation, and with full understanding and comprehension of the aforesaid agreement, to hold the aforementioned organization and governmental entities harmless of any and all liabilities including any such injuries which are alleged to have occurred as a result of negligent failure of officials, judges and directors to properly supervise contestants in the course of competition.
